International University Partnerships LSWI

We promote a globally networked science

We also seek an intensive and open exchange with our international partners so that we can shape the digital change in science for our common good. A large number of publications, which have been produced with external co-authors, document the national and international networking of our research.

Stellenbosch University

We have a long-standing partnership in research and teaching with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Stellenbosch University. Prof. Gronau has been a Research Fellow for several years; several LSWI scientists have already been on research stays in Stellenbosch and several scientists from Stellenbosch have been guests in Potsdam. Thematically, the collaboration extends to knowledge management and the effects of the 4th Industrial Revolution on jobs, qualification and work processes. Prof. Gronau teaches the Master of Information and Knowledge Management in Stellenbosch. Since 2018 there is also an exchange of Bachelor students between Business Informatics in Potsdam and Information Science and Business Administration in Stellenbosch.

Hong Kong Polytechnic University

With the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, an intensive research and teaching cooperation has existed for several years in the fields of innovative university teaching, knowledge management and Industry 4.0 Prof. Gronau is one of the participants in the Massive Open Online Course "Industry 4.0: How to Revolutionize your Business" on the platform EdX, which is offered by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Several scientists from Potsdam have already had guest residencies at the Polytechnic University, Prof. Gronau occasionally gives lectures on site.

University of Pretoria

With the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment & IT of South Africa's largest university, LSWI has an intensive research partnership over several years in the fields of Analytics, Industry 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence.

University of California Davis

The youngest partner of LSWI is the College of Engineering of the University of California at Davis. There, cooperations are currently being established in the areas of Industry 4.0, disaster control and creativity research. It is also planned that LSWI staff will take over block seminars at UC Davis.

Tel Aviv University

The LSWI cooperates with the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tel Aviv University in a research and teaching cooperation. The main research question is as follows: What role do people play in digitalized factories and what does a perfect interaction between humans and artificial intelligence look like?
The collaboration takes place on two levels and is intended to pave the way for a long-term cooperation. Covering the topics of Industry 4.0, AI in the factory, management of digital processes, and Human System Interaction, a joint digital master's course will be offered for students from Potsdam and Tel Aviv. In addition, the research topic will be discussed in a series of workshops, causing new research questions to emerge.
