Overview
The transfer of knowledge is a core topic of research at LSWI. Knowledge transfer refers to the process of passing on knowledge, skills and experience from one person, group or organization to another.
AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) offer enormous potential for knowledge transfer, as they can impart knowledge in a more interactive, immersive and often more effective way than traditional methods. For example, interactive training simulations can be tested in VR or AR-supported maintenance can be carried out directly on the machine.
The LSWI's research focuses on the potential of AR and VR for teaching knowledge-intensive processes. In addition to examining learning processes and knowledge transfer, a further focus is on human-machine interaction (e.g. user-friendliness, acceptance, cognitive influencing factors such as spatial ability and cognitive load) when learning with immersive technologies. In addition, the LSWI is investigating how AR and VR can be successfully integrated into the operational practice of companies and educational institutions.
